Edinburgh's PPF scene is smaller than Glasgow's but quietly more interesting. The city's car culture skews older and more discreet — Aston Martins, Bentley GTs, Porsche 911 Turbos, the occasional restomod Defender — and the installers that have built a reputation here have done so on bespoke, slow, considered work rather than on volume. You will not find a Topaz-scale operation in Edinburgh; what you will find is a handful of small specialist outfits that take a car for two weeks and return it photographed properly.

Most of the demand sits in the New Town, Stockbridge, Morningside and the Cramond / Barnton corridor. Lothian and Borders clients lean toward classic and modern-classic work — wrapping a Defender 90, an Aston Vantage or a 996 GT3 — alongside the usual Range Rover and AMG saloon traffic. There's also a small but loyal stream of work from Fife and East Lothian, where local PPF coverage thins out quickly outside the central belt.

Climate-wise, Edinburgh is gentler than Glasgow but the haar (the coastal sea fog) and salt-laden winter air still take a toll, and most local installers will recommend a full-front and bonnet kit at minimum on any car driven year-round. Ceramic coatings — particularly Gtechniq and Gyeon — are unusually popular alongside PPF here; the prep-heavy approach suits the local clientele.

Pricing tracks Glasgow closely, sometimes a little higher because the work is often more bespoke and slower. Lead times can be long for what looks like a small market — three to five weeks at the installers people actually want to use, because individual bookings stretch further. If you live in the city and want the best work, plan ahead and pick on substance rather than searching for next-week availability. Glasgow is forty-five minutes down the M8 if you genuinely cannot wait.
