Reading sits on a stretch of Thames Valley that buys more high-spec PPF than most cities twice its size. The Thames Valley — running from Maidenhead through Reading and out to Newbury — contains a dense concentration of tech, finance and corporate-money cars, and the local installers know it. Demand here is high without being noisy: McLaren GT, 911 Turbo S, Range Rover SVR, RS6 Avant, plenty of M-cars and an unusual quantity of long-wheelbase Bentleys around the Sunningdale and Ascot postcodes.

The local roster is medium-sized but capable. Several XPEL- and SunTek-certified independents work out of units across the M4 corridor — Reading, Theale, Bracknell — and the standard at the top end holds up against anywhere in the south. The proximity to London matters in two directions: Reading installers are within reach of London clients who want shorter lead times, and Reading clients have London options if they want the very top-end names. In practice, most stay local because the standard is high and the wait times are markedly better.

Motorway exposure is severe. The M4 and M40 funnel through, and front-end stone chip damage is a constant. That tilts the standard brief toward full-front, full-bonnet and A-pillar coverage. Full-body supercar work is more common than in most cities of comparable size — the local money supports it — but partial and full-front kits are the volume bookings.

Pricing tracks Bristol and Birmingham — generally 10-20% below London for equivalent work. A full-body kit typically lands £3,800-£4,300. Lead times are healthy: one to three weeks at most installers outside peak, three to five at the most-booked. If you live anywhere in the Thames Valley, Berkshire, Oxfordshire fringe or north Hampshire, Reading is almost always the most credible option without driving into London.
