Ceramic coating is a liquid nano-ceramic (typically SiO2 or SiC based) that cures to a hard, glass-like layer chemically bonded to clear coat. It adds gloss, hydrophobicity, UV resistance and easier washing for two to nine years depending on product tier. It does not absorb stone chips or rock strikes — that is PPF's job. Coatings go on every painted panel plus glass, wheels and trim if specified. Headline buyer: owner who wants a low-maintenance finish, deeper gloss and chemical/UV protection on a daily, lease or weekend car.

Standard scope covers all painted panels: bonnet, roof, doors, wings, boot/tailgate, front and rear bumpers, A-pillars, mirror caps, sills/rockers and the painted sections around door shuts. Higher tiers add glass coating (windscreen and side windows), wheel face coating (including barrels off-car on higher tiers), exhaust tip coating, trim and plastic coating for matte bumper inserts and arches, and interior leather/fabric sealants. Pre-fit prep is the bulk of the work: a full decontamination wash, iron-fallout removal, clay or nano-mitt decon, tar removal, then single or multi-stage paint correction to remove swirls and holograms before coating. Panel wipe with IPA or dedicated prep solvent precedes application. Coating is laid down panel by panel, levelled, and left to flash before a second layer or topper goes on. Door shuts, fuel filler surround and boot aperture are coated on higher-tier jobs. Cup areas behind door handles should be included. Curing typically takes 12-24 hours indoors before the car is moved.

Entry-level single-layer coatings on a daily hatchback or saloon: £450-£750. Mid-tier two-to-five-year coatings with light paint correction on a prestige saloon or SUV: £800-£1,400. Premium five-to-nine-year coatings (Gtechniq Crystal Serum Ultra, Kamikaze ISM Pro, Gyeon Mohs Evo, CQuartz Finest Reserve) with full single-stage correction: £1,400-£2,200. Supercar full correction plus flagship coating, glass, wheels off and interior: £2,200-£3,500. Matt or satin paint coatings (specialist matte-safe products only): add 15-25%. Multi-stage correction on neglected or swirled paint adds £400-£900 on top depending on hours. Annual maintenance decontamination and topper service typically £180-£350.

Suits daily drivers, prestige weekend cars and lease returns where stone-chip risk is moderate. Buyers chasing rock-strike protection on the front clip should pair coating with a PPF front-end or track pack rather than coating alone. Common pairing: PPF on impact zones, ceramic over the whole car including the film.
